Why choose this resort?

This area has long been a winter sports destination since the beginning of the twentieth century, attracting a wealth of both top downhill skiers and young groups. Today, it hosts World Cup ski races the latest World Cup run on the Hinterstoder being named after the downhill world champion, Hannes Trinkl. Thanks to its excellent snow record, the ski areas of Wurzeralm and Hinterstoder offer a great range of skiable terrain. Our school groups are based in the small town of Spital, conveniently located between the Wurzeralm and Hinterstoder ski areas. Aside from the accommodation there are a good range of amenities and, with easy access from the motorway linking Salzburg to Linz, is popular with skiers from all over Europe.

On the slopes

Most groups start on the slopes of Wurzeralm where beginners soon learn the essential ski skills and progress from the gentle nursery slopes to the well-groomed tree-lined blues. Hinterstoder offers a greater range of steeper and more challenging skiing with numerous red runs available. It is on Hinterstoder where the more experienced skiers within your group will appreciate access to 12 advanced runs. Across the two ski areas there is an effective system of 22 lifts in place. Lift queues tend to be negligible, as many groups remark on how efficiently and swiftly the lift systems operate. Snowboarders will certainly enjoy the snowpark at Fun & Action Hill (300m long), along with the Höss at Hinterstoder which offers freestyle skiers and snowboarders a wide choice of jumps and kickers. Groups can enjoy the snowparks with all abilities able to find something suited to their level. Whilst not so well-known with the British market, this ski area attracts school groups from Austria who appreciate the benefits of an experienced ski school and excellent value the area offers.
