Why choose this resort?
The French resort of Châtel sits within the impressive Portes du Soleil ski area. Its location on the French-Swiss border means schools can enjoy easy access from Geneva airport with a transfer time of approximately 1 ½ hour. School groups choosing to travel by coach can enjoy a scenic journey on gentle gradients due to its position close to the main route from Thonon.
On the slopes
Châtel is known for its ski school providing our SkiBound groups with excellent tuition. Beginners will be able to develop their confidence on the gentle green runs of Super Châtel or Pre la Joux, while intermediates can take advantage of the fantastic views across Lake Geneva from the tree-lined red runs in the Super Châtel ski area. Led by ski school instructors, the more advanced skiers within your school group have a great range of slopes to explore. The more experienced skiers may even choose to explore the mogul field in Avoriaz named ‘The Wall’.
The Châtel lift pass itself covers 45 lifts and 83km of pistes stretching across Châtel, Super Châtel, Pré-la-Joux, and Linga. An upgrade to the full Portes du Soleil pass is available at a supplement allowing access to 600km of skiing.
Those already familiar with the resort of Châtel will be greeted with the addition of a modern lift connection completed during the winter 15/16 season. The new system takes students from the Super Châtel ski area to Linga, meaning school groups will no longer need to take a bus from town to the main system. While the public shuttle between these two points still operates, SkiBound groups benefit most from the pre-reserved spaces available on the free shuttle service that run from inside the resort and past the Clos Savoyard hotel every 15 minutes. Spaces can be pre-reserved to fall in line with sessions with the ski school.
