Developing the business leaders of tomorrow

New for 2012 Peak Horizon provides International Summer Camps for young people from all over the world. Brought to you by the team that have been welcoming, inspiring and motivating young people for over 25 years, Skibound and Travelbound have launched a brand new range of International Summer Camps designed to help youngsters realise their full potential in a range of fields.

The Young Entrepreneurs Camp, a specialist business programme, designed for young adults aged between 15 and 17, aims to help develop the business leaders of tomorrow. They are all about providing students with the foundations and tools to succeed in the business world and nurture their entrepreneurial skills. The programmes also give young adults a chance to align their future education choices with employment ambitions.

In a recent survey of over 500 entrepreneurial and business leaders, The Brightspark Edu-Travel Report found that travel experience as a student fosters the development of relevant leadership skills, with 94% of survey respondents strongly agreeing that being well travelled was a competitive advantage in the workplace. Additional survey results showed that educational travel allows students to test their independence and character while gaining a deeper appreciation and acceptance of the world around them. This line of thought is embedded and encouraged in all of the programmes offered by Peak Horizons.

In addition to the entrepreneur programme, Peak Horizon offers individual language programmes for 10 to 17 year olds that can be completed either separately or combined with the entrepreneur programme, should the student need to be brought up to the required entry level. The language programmes offer bespoke, intermediate and advanced levels, tailored to individual groups depending on age categories and educational needs.

Teaching at the camps will be focused on specific business principles with English language skills via interactive workshops, sessions with guest speakers, off-site visits, meetings with local entrepreneurs and exciting business competitions. There is also the opportunity to brush up on French language skills as part of the camp with FLE certified teachers.

Dedicated consultants will lead the different tasks and provide specialist advice. Moreover, students of all nationalities will be supported in business challenges by English teachers who are CELTA/DELTA certified; the highest qualification available in English language teaching approved by the British Council.

Beata Szabo, General Manager of Peak Horizon commented “Every student will return home full of enthusiasm and ideas about developing their potential to the full. In addition to the many hard skills attained, every student will have a developed sense of their skills and confidence that will provide a great benefit at every stage of their education and career.”

Prices start from €2499 for the Entrepreneur programme and €1999 for the Language programme, each lasting 2 weeks or 4 weeks combined, located in the French Alps. Both include accommodation, all meals, lessons and activities as well as 24 hour supervision and support. These new camps are available to all nationalities. Research reveals when people are most likely to hit the slopes for the first time

It has been revealed that 34% of respondent’s first ever skiing/ snowboarding trip was on a school trip, which is higher than any other entrance group to hitting the slopes. SkiBound posed the question via a survey* that went to 2,000 British adults in November 2011. School trips are the gateway to skiing for the largest portion of skiers but particularly for males, people outside of London and those from lower socio-economic groups.

Mark Bush, Managing Director of SkiBound, made the following comment: “It’s very encouraging to see that taking a school ski trip is the preferred chosen route to skiing. This research adds to the growing wealth of evidence demonstrating the value of learning outside the classroom in improving ski awareness and motivating children to become lifelong learners. The overwhelming benefits of getting children out and about far outweigh the perceived barriers that can include concerns over safety, which we take very seriously. SkiBound offers practical solutions to help teachers integrate learning outside the classroom on the slopes.”
