Specialised Green Tour for summer 2010
We are excited to welcome you to SkiBound’s first ever Green Tour. Well suited for students interested in Geography, Leisure & Tourism, Economics, Environmental studies and Alpine sports.
Our school tours are fantastic learning experiences. This is a great opportunity to provide a tour that enhances learning of sustainability issues in a beautiful and natural setting of the French Alps. Based in the resort of Alpe d’Huez in our 3 * Vallee Blanche Clubhotel equipped with classroom facilities, en-suite bedrooms and spacious lay out, students will benefit from its central location.
A tour at the EDF Hydro Electric Power station, receiving lectures from the tourist office and the commercial office in Alpe d’huez are some of the fantastic eye opening excursions available along with exciting alpine activities such as white water rafting, mountain biking and upland trekking.
Travel options
We recommend your group travels by coach and Eurotunnel and in doing so will keep your carbon use to a minimum.
Sustainability Presentations and Excursions
Field work options
Investigate the environmental and economic impact of the skiing industry on Alpe d’Huez and its inhabitants.
Students can carry out an environmental impact assessment (EIA) on existing ski runs to determine the current
level of environmental damage. The data can then be used to assess the impacts of the recent expansion of the
ski area.
