Shiga Kogen, Yakebitaiyama
Highlights
- Yakebitaiyama is both the most modern and the largest ski area of the 18 interconnected resorts within Shiga Kogen, Japan’s biggest ski area
- Situated at a high altitude with skiing up to 1995m, the area is renowned for its large quantities of dry powder snow and excellent skiing conditions
- Accommodation is ideally located, adjacent to the lifts at the base of Yakebitaiyama, offering true ski-in/ski-out.
Why choose this resort?
Shiga Kogen was one of the locations for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, so students will have the unique opportunity to ski the Olympic Course, which hosted the Snowboard men’s & women’s Giant Slalom and the Alpine Skiing men’s & women’s Slalom.
On the slopes
With the instructors meeting the group at the lifts adjacent to their hotel, Shiga Kogen offers a fantastic ski package. Once beginners have started to progress from the magic carpet to the wide beginner trails, they can then begin to explore some of the more challenging terrain.
Our standard package includes the Yakebitaiyama ski area. However, advanced skiing groups can also explore the adjacent ski area of Okushiga with their instructors by including an extended ski pass at a supplementary cost.
