Why choose this resort?

Located directly on the lake are the villages of Ossiach and Bodensdorf, just a short drive from the Gerlitzen mountains. The villages feature basic amenities and are a short coach journey from the city of Villach. Landskron is the closest village to the Gerlitzen ski area and city of Villach providing school groups with easy access to the slopes and après-ski activities. The thermal baths in Villach Warmbad offer school groups an alternative attraction while there is also a choice of indoor ice rinks in both Villach and Steindorf.

On the slopes

Home to Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medallist Matthias Mayer, Gerlitzen presents an excellent choice for both beginner and intermediate school ski groups. The ski area of Gerlitzen is accessed via the Kanzelbahn gondola in Annenheim. From the middle station, Gerlitzen offers wide-open pistes spread across the mountain enabling all abilities to access the range.

A dedicated beginners’ area at the middle station is a great chance to develop core concepts before heading to the higher slopes where incredible views across the Ossiacher Lake and the Slovenian borders await.

Due to ongoing investment to lift systems and snowmaking facilities, Gerlitzen has seen its popularity grow with skiers and snowboarders. Queuing for lifts is rare meaning students can maximise their time on the slopes. Clearly defined, well-groomed pistes with rustic mountain huts pave the way for groups while students can also grab a snack at one of the sun-terrace restaurants.

SkiBound groups benefit from pre-arranged ski storage on the mountain as well as hot lunches in one of the many mountain restaurants. Located close to the city of Villach, groups have access to a broad choice of shops, activities and evening entertainments.
