Located directly on the lake are the villages of Ossiach and Bodensdorf, just a short drive from the Gerlitzen mountains. The villages feature basic amenities and are a short coach journey from the city of Villach.
Landskron is the closest village to the Gerlitzen ski area and the city of Villach, providing school groups with easy access to the slopes and après-ski activities. The thermal baths in Villach Warmbad offer school groups an alternative attraction, while indoor ice rinks are also available in Villach and Steindorf.

Home to Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medallist Matthias Mayer, Gerlitzen presents an excellent choice for both beginner and intermediate school ski groups. The ski area of Gerlitzen is accessed via the Kanzelbahn gondola in Annenheim. From the middle station, Gerlitzen offers wide-open pistes spread across the mountain enabling all abilities to access the range.
