Why choose Oberlungau

The sought-after destination of Oberlungau boasts a snow record lasting well into April. The unspoilt villages exude Austrian charm and access to the 3 ski areas of Katschberg, Grosseck-Speiereck and Fanningberg. Connected by a modern lift system, your students can experience wide, varied open runs and room to make good progress during their stay. Replacing the village chairlift, St Michael’s gondola has helped enhance the Speiereck by providing a less than 10-minute journey to the top station. Located close to Salzburg, Oberlungau offers a wide range of accommodation options and activities making it a favourite with our school groups year on year.

On the slopes

100% snowmaking coverage across the 147km of skiable pistes means groups on a school ski trip to Oberlungaucan be sure of being welcomed by long, pristine runs, including the 6km ‘A1 run’ to St Margarethen, known to be one of the best in the Alps. Many of our groups start on the nursery slopes at village level in St Michael or Mauterndorf, before moving onto the uncrowded and forgiving slopes of Fanningberg. Great snow on the wide-open red runs of Katschberg attracts intermediates seeking more of a gradient. Advanced skiers will appreciate 27kms of black runs to choose from and with the option of upgrading to the Lungo pass available, groups can enjoy the freedom of exploring both Oberlungau and Obertauern.
