Why choose Axamer Lizum
Located around 13 miles southwest of Innsbruck in Tirol, Axamer Lizum is famous for having twice hosted all of the alpine events, except for the men’s downhill, in 1964 and in 1976. As you would expect with such a famous ski area, a school ski trip to Axamer Lixum offers challenging skiing and the opportunity to ski an Olympic run. The area also offers good progression from the nursery area and suits the needs of a school party. The resort is known locally as Innsbruck’s `White Roof’, a reference to the famous Golden Roof in the heart of Innsbruck.

Axamer Lizum is situated at 1580m with 10 lifts allowing groups to explore the mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced skiing on offer. Axamer Lizum’s height and north-facing location mean there is an abundance of natural snowfall and consistently good snow conditions, backed up by snow-making facilities that cover 80% of the piste area. Some of the pistes have been named after the races that were hosted at either the 1964 or 1976 Winter Olympics. Beginners will access the gentle novice terrain at the base of the ski area.
